What's Wrong with a Furry Dating Site?

Dear Papabear,

Hello. In recent times I've seen a furry dating service who also has an advertisement on your site and was worried that this kind of thing might put out an odd light for people who don't know the furry fandom very well. I guess it's kind of a silly fear, but I just had to ask somebody who may [have] a little bit more of a level headed point of view on this. Well, anyway, in closing, thank you for taking the time to read my message to you. I look forward to your reply.

Hi, Zapper,

I assume you mean FurryMate, which does, indeed, have an ad on my site. I’m curious why you feel this is sending a bad message out about the furry fandom. In recent years, a lot of specialty dating sites have cropped up after the success of more generic dating sites, such as eHarmony. There are dating sites that specialize in ethnic, religious, and even age and sexual orientation preferences. Why shouldn’t there also be some dating sites specific to furries?

I would actually like to hear from any of my readers who have used a furry dating site like FurryMate. Tell me about your experiences with them!

Wishing Y’all Love and Happiness,

Papabear

I personally have used the site, and I feel it lacks several good features a dating site needs, and I feel there should be one created for the furry community with the same standards the other guys are using. I personally am not a fan of FurryMate because there is no real tools other than browsing your location, there is no way to search likes, interests and more. I have to say sites like OKCupid which are surprisingly completely free offer way better help in the area of finding people with similar personalities, I think a furry dating site should have features that help match people together, not just display profiles.

Sorry, but that’s my rant ^,...,^

I have a profile on it. It was ok at start but once it became basically a paid site I stopped using it.

I started out using FurryMate, and after setting everything up, I discovered pretty quickly that you couldn't do much of anything without paying for it. Which I was debating doing, since it seemed kind of interesting

Then the site locked me out. I have the password on file, but it won't accept it, nor my email to try and retrieve the password, and the staff couldn't be bothered to respond to my emails

So I used Pounced.org instead. Free, and a whole hell of a lot better in my opinion
