Papabear is going to be interviewed on WNPR in Hartford, CT, this month, the topic being the "furry lifestyle." I want to get your input on the show with this question to you:

Is there such a thing as a "furry lifestyle"?

If so, how do YOU define it?  If not, why not?

Please post your comments below. A fascinating topic that needs to be talked about! Thank you!

Hmm, "Furry Lifestyle", is there one?

I guess in my thoughts, there isn't and is..

As in isn't. There is no such thing as a lifestyle you would have to follow to be a furry or so. Or, or and In furry it's self, it probably isn't. But there are people who has a like of "Anthropomorphic" or different specie, can't choose to unlike, like any interest but doesn't want to be called Furry.

But the lifestyle that does exist maybe is what you like to do while being a furry. (Same thing when you are born to live) Like you probably would auto call your self furry, but then you like to do stuff that is considered a "lifestyle" like drawing, games, etc.

As in the whole thing as a certain "lifestyle" like official, no there isn't I think.

I'm not sure if this is clear for you, and I may not used the word right. :P

Do furries have a ‘lifestyle’? Yes and No.

Take a typical day in the life of a furry. He / she gets up in the morning, grooms, eats, and gets ready for the day just like anyone.

The furry might on their time off to work on mending and maintaining their fursuit if they have one, few do. Others would work on art that has an animal theme in some way or another. Otherwise a normal day like any other persons.

I personally am an unusual furry in that I’m so proud to be one, and wear my tail 24/7 to show my pride in being a furry, my love of animals, and making people smile! Just a simple tail can do that! I get such nice compliments and so many smiles and laughs! I can make someone’s day just for wearing my tail!

I am also a bit unusual in the I am one that identifies with a part of my psyche that is a lion in my case. And in my case it also is the attributes of courage and strength that I want for myself. And other attributes that we associate with lions (whether true or not!). And in that it also illustrates a basic concept on what a furry is: humanizing the animal. People will say a lion is courageous like a person say a firefighter is though the lion’s courage is not that consistent or ‘human’ like.

Another part of the “lifestyle” is the rare exception. The day we go to a fursuit event and put on our fursuits or assist other fursuiters as it’s a very difficult thing to do and needs a lot of assistance. Fursuiters are almost ‘torturing’ themselves in their fursuits. But why we do it is the incredible smiles on peoples faces, the hugs, the photographs, the fun.

One common activity is bowling. Fursuit bowling. A bunch of furries either in fursuit or not meet at a bowling alley and have tremendous fun! We laugh and cheer each other on! We play, and the fursuiters struggle to get the ball down the alley as a fursuit is quite the handicap! It makes normal family bowling look boring by comparison.

And of course there is a part of a persons “lifestyle” where they have some sex in their life of some sort. Most of the time however it’s hugging, cuddling, and so on. But otherwise it’s just like anyone else’s life. Very, very few have sex in fursuit as it’s exhausting, expensive, and so on.

Believe me contrary to popular belief we’re not into it for sex. What we do is just like anyone else does most of the time. It’s in our recreational activities that we are different. The art, the meets, the fursuits, and oh, did I mention the pinnacle of what a furry is? The convention!

There are so many, many conventions where there are dances, we meet friends we’ve only known online, and we attend or participate in the pinnacle event: the fursuit parade. We walk from one place to another in fursuit for the cameras. My first parade I cried the whole time! There were so many photographers, cameras, and audience that I felt like I was more famous than Cher and Madonna combined!! It was amazing!

We love what we are. We love one another. The world could learn from us as I have learned so much that has changed my life dramatically for the better! My therapists were so happy for what I discovered and did being a furry! They understand it well and find it very helpful and therapeutic in many ways for me!

I’ve only been a ‘true furry’ for over a year, and known furries for over 4 years. I’m a 52 year old man. I suffered from depression my whole life. I spend some of my time taking care of my disabled landlord. But I don’t do the “sex thing” as it’s just not my style. Like many furries I’m shy and a bit of a recluse.

This probably would need a lot of editing as I have not proofread it.
